Black Lives Matter protests in Portland, Oregon, are seeing massive pushback from the administration as Federal law enforcement officers have been unleashed on the people practicing their free and democratic rights. The heated protests against racial injustice and systemic racism continue unabated in the city as the protestors are not ready to relent on the fight for a cause they believe in.
As reported by The Sun , federal officers equipped with assault rifles and smoke grenades faced-off with a wall of parents who were dressed in yellow t-shirts and wore helmets and goggles to shield the BLM protestors. According to the report, "The "Wall of Moms", which formed less than a week ago, acted as human shields for Black Lives Matter protesters during the 55th night of protest in the liberal city."
Speaking with the Washington Post , Wall of Moms organizer Jennie Vinson said: "When you’re a mom you have this primal urge to protect kids, and not just your kids, all kids." She added: "To see a grown man reaching out and calling for his mother — I think that was a transformational moment for so many of us. It’s like: What choice do we have but to do this?"
Donald Trump, in the meanwhile, vowed to "straighten things out" in cities run by "left-wing" politicians, claiming that the areas are "like war zones," according to the report by The Sun. It states: He maligned Democratic governors who "don't want to ask" for help, suggesting that they were acting "proud." Trump has said: "We’re going to straighten things out." He added: "And if the cities are not going to straighten out, or local politicians … they’re all Democrats. They’re all liberal, left-wing Democrats. And it’s almost like they think it is going to be this way forever."
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, on the other hand, had slammed the federal presence and has asserted that the situation has become even more volatile due to their dominance. The BLM protestors are still standing strong in the city and are not ready to yield.
